Ok, here it finally is... the long awaited, hotly debated and of course far from definitive ...best of 1994. A year of mediocre, alot of goods but few greats. But the main issue in rock is not art anymore but units sold and demographics pleased. So enjoy and send your rebuttals to me

JOHNNY CASH- AMERICAN RECORDINGS   A solid surprise, a great come back, an American classic.

SARAH MCLACHLAN- FUMBLING TOWARD ECSTASY  A long lasting impact, still great to hear.

R.E.M.- MONSTER  Good noise, from one of the few bands that matter.

ALI FARKA TOURE W/ RY COODER- TALKING TIMBUKTU  The delta meets Africa. Deep blues.

JESUS AND MARY CHAIN- STONED & DETHRONED   Pure pop fun.

LYLE LOVETT- I LOVE EVERYBODY    Odd and true, great lyrics.

VERUCA SALT- AMERICAN THIGHS  What is alternative?? One day buzz band next day buzz clip.

IRIS DEMENT- MY LIFE  Insight, heart and she means it, too.

VAN MORRISON- A NIGHT IN SAN FRANCISCO   An R&B rollercoaster with Van in the first car.

VELVET CRUSH- TEENAGE SYMPHONIES TO GOD   Gram Parsons would be proud, and Cheap Trick too.
