Jack’s Best of 2010

Jack’s Best of 2010

2010 another year of chasing 3 chords and the truth

  1. Drive-By Truckers – The Big To-Do
A tough look at life on the outside of society. An album that I just kept coming back to and it got deeper with each visit.
  2. The Black Keys – Brothers
R.L Burnside would be proud of these guys.
  3. Patty Griffin – Downtown Church
An album of true heart and soul and one that gets a lot of plays on Sunday mornings.  Cheers Jesus.
  4. Beach House – Teen Dream
Dreamy and alluring in a Velvet Underground meets Mazzy Star kind of way.
  5. Vampire Weekend – Contra
An even better mash up of Afro-pop filtered through NYC.
  6. Josh Rouse – El Turista
Alternative Brazilian folk pop album of the year.
  7. Band of Horses – Infinite Arms
Americana pop album of the year – not as rootsy but more melodic than their previous releases. And that’s a good thing.
  8. Nick Curran and the lowlifes – Reform School Girl
He spits out high-energy rockabilly, jump and blues. Authentic without imitation.
  9. Neil Young – Le Noise
Neil and his guitar take you on ride unlike anything in his career or unlike anything in anyone else’s career.
  10. The Gaslight Anthem – American Slang
A band with a big vision, a big sound and the talent to grow into long career (which is a rare thing)

  11. Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings – I Learned the Hard Way
  12. Peter Wolf – Midnight Souvenirs
  13. Arcade Fire – The Suburbs
  14. The Coral – Butterfly Hous
  15. Los Lobos – Tin Can Trust
  16. Robert Plant – Band of Joy
  17. Alejandro Escovedo – Street Songs of Love
  18. The Hold Steady – Heaven is whenever
  19. She & Him – Volume 2
  20. Kings of Leon – Come Around Sunset
