Pay no mind to what they say - doesn't matter anyway.

So Gina Schock was upset that Charlotte Caffey & Jane Wiedlin made more money in the Go Go's than she did.  It didn't matter to her that they wrote all of the songs.  Gina's reasoning:  It was the Go Go's that made them hits.  Hey dumbass, I got three words for you:  House Of Schock.  You're a fine drummer, but a hitmaker?  Don't think so.  It also seems that time was as kind to Kathy Valentine as it was unkind to Balloonda.  Eek.  She be one creepy lookin' broad, now.  And, of course, Jane's still a boner machine.  Wow.  You know, I actually knew Charlotte's brother, and of all the Go Go's stories he shared with me, he curiously left one out:  The fact that his sister was a junkie for 10 years.  Leave it to the happy folks at VH-1 to bring it to my attention.  Pretty much your standard Behind The Music fare.  Nothing about the music.  One major beef about that; they pretty much dismissed Talk Show - which I think is not only a fine, fine record, but the best in their cannon.  Oh well, I guess it's just nice to know that the teenage girls who wanted to be like the Go Go's should have been drunk all of the time and screwing everyone in sight.  Who'd a thunk that they were crazy, drunken whores.  Another beef:  Strangely missing from all of the talking about all the screwing they did was the mention of Ms. Schock's scrubbing detail.

Speaking of melodious nymphs, was it really 18 years ago that I bought The Dreaming by Kate Bush?  All fatalisms aside, it's still a fantastic record and one that you all should pick up.  1982 - Same year I picked up Joe Jackson's Night & Day... which brings me nicely to 2000's Summer In The City - Live In New York.  Joe on piano, Graham Maby on bass & Gary Burke on drums.  Nice concept (Joe arranged/re-arranged stuff for this tidy little trio).  Nice song selection (Classics like "One More Time" & "It's Different For Girls" and cool covers like "King Of The World" & "The In Crowd").  Nice try (What a boring goddamn listen).  What happened?  Now, I actually liked about half of Laughter & Lust, but even that was almost 10 years ago.  Joe, we hardly knew ye.  But, at least we wanted to when you were making good records.

I saw Lou Reed live this week.  My expectations weren't that big, considering his track record for performing.  What a show, kids.  He rocked.  Hard.  And Fernando Saunders wasn't even that annoying.  The gift of "Sweet Jane" for one of the encores was certainly a nice treat, and that show renewed my faith in rock & roll.  Pick up Ecstasy [Warner Brothers], his best record since New York and enjoy the ride.

So, Offspring started selling T-shirts & hats with the Napster logo on them on their website.  Napster sent them a cease & desist order.  Offspring said, "Our stuff's on your website without our permission..."  Retards.  Plain & simple.
