You're so vain.
Did you all catch
the world premiere of the Garthbrooksaschrisgaines video?
Man, we are in for a ride, kids. I've started innocent
correspondence with my EMD (Capitol) rep, but I haven't let
on about the SuperGainesFan that I am (although I did subject an
e-mail to her 'Gainesmania'...) I'm gonna keep you all
informed. I am your Garthbrooksaschrisgaines nightlight.
That is my job, Gaines is my creed. Oh, about the video,
Cynthy had the best comment - "Black is very slimming".

Speaking of tributes, I heard two of the worst tribute records I've ever heard in my life. 'Burning London - The Clash Tribute' [Epic] and 'I'm In Love With That Song' (Replacements Tribute) [Antfarm/Tomboy] First, The Clash trash. Crrrrrrrrap. Indigo Girls do an acoustic "Clampdown". Had they ever heard that song? It's supposed to rock. They should just move in with Ellen & Anne and call it a career. Rancid do "Cheat", which is enjoyable only because it gives them a chance to do a song by the band they've been trying to sound like forever - and it shows them for the talentless wannabees that they are. Ice Cube & Mack 10 do "Should I Stay..." Man, do I hate rappers. Third Eye Blind massacre "Train In Vain" - a song so good it's hard to ruin. Well, they did. Some high points, though - Afghan Whigs do a nice "Lost In The Supermarket" and Cracker turns in a nice country version of "White Riot". Otherwise, buy it for someone you don't like and make them to listen to it. The Mats thing is an Australian release with 23 bands, including You Am I (decent version of "White & Lazy") and Brad Shepherd of Hoodoo Gurus fame doing "Alex Chilton" [see above Third Eye Blind comment] Well, his doesn't suck as bad, but it still ain't good. 21 other crap Aussies you've never heard of doing crappy versions of crappy Replacements tunes. I think most of them belong to the "Hootenanny was the last good record" club. Assholes. Favorite Album Of All Time This Week©: 'Tim' - The Replacements. "Kiss Me On The Bus". 'Nuff said.
Good tribute news,
Senor Roberto Fulks will contribute a track to a Knitters tribute
available next month. Did you all go to that website and pick
up the new record? Dang me, a fine platter of lovin', from
Robbie's oven. It's great.

"Detroit Rock
City" opens this weekend.
Every time I see that "Chewy Granola" thing ad, I get so mad that they replaced "The neighbors are hillbillies" with "My Dad cries". I'll never buy their product because of that. I do love hearing that song though... Doo doo doodoo Doo Doo, indeed! Question Of The Week© Which was the best Schoolhouse Rock segment?
