LEEMail
Last night, I turned out the light, lay down and thought about you.  I thought about the way that it could be.

I knew I was in trouble watching "The David Cassidy Story" when "David" received a call from his Dad (Malcolm McDowell as Jack Cassidy - a performance even more frightening than Alex) about turning down the Partridge Family audition (1968) and there was a copy of Eric Clapton's 'Backless' (1978) next to him.  Or, how about David walking into his house/apartment(?) and unlocking a door with a security company sticker on it?   Plus, we've all seen the Rolling Stone cover - David didn't have pecs.  Speaking of the Rolling Stone interview - while he was giving it (in 1972), they were playing Foreigner's "Hot Blooded" (also 1978) in the background.  And that "ending"?  Hell, either of them.  Maybe WE needed to be mixing pills & booze to understand it.  Man, the only thing that would have saved that piece of shit would have been if Jackie Rogers Jr. would have played Jack Cassidy.  And David.  And Shirley Jones.  And Jeremy Gelbwaks.

Speaking of David's, I feel a little better about the whole thing knowing no one actually slept with David Crosby.

And now, Apparently The Most Controversial Part Of LEEmail This Week©:
LEE On DVD This Week©: 'King Crimson "deja VROOOM"' [Discipline Global Mobile]  Hey, here's a fuckin' DVD to rave about.  Firstly, though, you need to be a fan of the band.  If you're not, I'm sorry - you must be retarded.  Anyway, 20 live tracks (including my fave: "Matte Kudasai"), mixed in SUPERB surround.  Five of these have multiple camera options - 1 has a choice of 7 angles!  Tony Levin's Road Movies, complete band line-ups, history and commentary from Fripp, and (most interestingly) a feature called '21st Century Schizoid Band' which allows you to construct your own version of "21st Century Schizoid Man" using the rhythm sections, vocals and solo from 4 different line-ups of the band.  Discipline this!
'The McGarrigle Hour' [Hannibal]  A fantastic companion piece one of 1988's best records.  Firstly, though, you need to be a fan of the band.  If you're not, I'm sorry - you must be retarded.  Anyway, 23 tracks (including 4 taken from a 1981 concert in Montreal.)  A fantastic audio mix, great menus, interviews, biographies and more.  The only thing it's missing is Kate thanking me for thanking her after "Mendocino."  Another fine, fine release from Palm Pictures, the folks who brought you the exquisite 'Stop Making Sense' DVD.

Question Of The Week©:
What's the worst "biographical" Rock & Roll movie you've ever seen?  (And remember, 'Two Of Us' hasn't run on VH1, yet...)
