LEEMail
I'm alive - and the world shines for me today.

Kudos to France for once.  The Eiffel Tower New Years fireworks were by far the best.  Not to be outdone, the British presented the "largest display of pyrotechnics" ever.  Sorry Limeys, 20 minutes of shit blowing up ain't entertainment unless there's kung-fu involved.

Another new year - another batch of shitty Grammy nominations.  Kid Rock for best new artist.  Well, this is only his 5th release.  And Santana?  Please.  Apparently, no one took into account that the only reason that record is selling is because the lead singer on the single's last album sold 8 million copies and radio & MTV are desperate for anything new "Matchbox 20" related to play.  And fuck any of you who will try to tell me that's a good record.  It's not.  If you think it is, you are deaf and I would suggest a complete psychiatric evaluation.

And, no - my New Years resolutions did not include being nicer.

Just in time for the new year, though, is a recently updated theLEEpage at http://theleepage.homepage.com

Anybody catch video of the Eagles live at the Staples Center for Y2K?  Man, I've seen better animatronics at Knott's Berry Farm.  What a bunch of boring old fucks.  And "Their Greatest Hits 19'71-1975" is now the best selling record ever.  That coupled with jackasses paying $1000 a seat to see them (along with Jackson Browne & Planet Ronstadt) made a great argument for the world ending that very night.  It didn't.  And, unfortunately, they didn't.  Geez, could you imagine how depressing your life must be if the last thing you heard in 1999 was that insipid 30 minute guitar duel in "Hotel California"?  Dedado dedado dedado dedado dedado.  Dedado dedado dedadwee, indeed!

Favorite Album Of All Time This Week©:  Thriller - Michael Jackson.

'The Partridge Family - Behind The Music'.  Maybe it's just me, but didn't David Cassidy bitch & moan to high heaven throughout his 'Behind The Music' (which has been run at least 5000 times by now) about how much he hated all of that PF stuff - ESPECIALLY the music.  Now he's saying how much he loved it, and how great it was to "revisit" those songs for HIS TV movie (coming soon to a network near you).  Dolt.  That must be why he left EFX: those pyrotechnics boiled his brain.  Another highly awaited snore-ola.  Well, at least I finally found out what happened to Jeremy Gelbwaks.  Although I do find it strange that Bonaduce's movie implied that he was fired because he couldn't fake the drumming...

Favorite Song Of All Time This Week©:  "Punch & Judy" - XTC

Have you seen the advertisement for the "100 Greatest Children's Songs" CD?  Firstly, I thought it was "Here We Go Loop Dee Loo".  They call it (and have that demonic choir of Ritalin starved grubs singing) "Here We Go Luby Loo".  What?  And secondly, am I the only person who's NEVER heard or heard of this "Muffin Man" song?

LEE on DVD This Week©:  So many new ones to choose from, we'll start here...
"Fast Times At Ridgemont High - Collector's Edition" (Universal)  Some movies get funnier every time you watch them.  Add this to that list.  In fact, one of the funniest moments in film history has to be Judge Reinhold's soliloquy into the mirror with "Big Hairy Pussy" scrawled onto it.  Every scene with Sean Penn is hilarious, and it is a crime that he & Ray Walston were not Oscar winners that year.  Loads of extras, including animated menus, a 40 minute documentary, a great "Hangouts Of Ridgemont High" site map which reveals & shows the locations used to shoot the film.  Awesome, totally awesome.
"Detroit Rock City" (New Line Cinema)  Again, a movie you'll either love or hate.  I'm on the love end (sure, I'm biased) but the DVD itself certainly deserves accolades.  Animated menus more elaborate that any I've seen, and designed well (unlike "Austin Powers: TSWSM") - allowing you to either watch them through, or skip directly to the functions.  Commentary from the band and filmmakers, deleted scenes, a guitar lesson, lots of stuff.  Plus, it gives you a chance to choose between 4 camera shots during the live performance of "Detroit Rock City".  Ace-cam© is angle 2.

Question Of The Week©:  What's your favorite "stoner" movie?
