Don't know much about history.
Kimba The White Lion? Never saw
it (that I know of...) I remember Kimba The Jungle Boy.
He wadn't no pussy, though.
I keep reading these great reviews
for NINE INCH NAILS' 'The Fragile' [Nothing/Interscope]. I
heard it. The reviewers must have been sent different
records. This overlong & pretentious dud became over
100 of the most painful, wasted minutes of my life. When will
people realize that just because you can fit 78 minutes on a cd
doesn't mean you don't have to? And you certainly don't need
to do it twice in the same package! What the hell does he
have to be so glum about, anyway? When I was in high school,
there were these guys who would carry around the box cutters they
used at their grocery store jobs. They would cut
themselves at school to gross out the girls and make people think
that they were scary, troubled or deep individuals. Well,
after suffering through 'The Fragile, I know one thing: Trent
must carry a box cutter around. What a talentless dick he is
and what a boring record he has made.

You want a good record? SLOAN
'Between The Bridges' [Murder] Riffs, hooks and the occasional
well placed "Whoo!" make for some fine audio dining.
These nutty Nova Scotians are one the best things to happen to music
in the last few years. Stellar. And, if you missed
their double-live record from earlier this year, it was limited -
and it's gone.
And, speaking of contenders for the
best album of 1999, I was in attendance for BIG KENNY's L.A. debut
tonight - and whatta show. Shook his hand afterward and told
him what a great record he made. He thanked me. Swell
guy. Of course, the fucknuts at Hollywood Records have pulled 'Live
A Little' from the schedule... Gee, let's put an artist on
tour, have them create an interest in a hooky, fun record, and then
give the public NOTHING TO BUY! Jesus. The industry
is run by dumbass corporate knownothing jackasses. In the
words of the immortal DLR, "Somebody get me a doctor."

Well, my pixie caught some turbulence en route, so you'll have to
wait a week for my impression of the man, the enigma, the
Aussie's record. Tie me kangaroo down, indeed! But, did
everyone catch last Sunday's [insert your local paper name] Target

LEE on DVD This Week©: 'Willy
Wonka & The Chocolate Factory' [Warner Home Video]. This
title is going on moratorium in January of 2000, so you might want
to pick one up. Gene Wilder is fanfreakintastic, and way
creepier than you remember. Charlie's still a bore, but with
your remote you can skip through his crap and go straight to the
evil - er, fun.
